Rebuilding the digital home of a UMass research lab so its scholarship could finally travel as far as its ideas.

Global Technology for Social Justice Lab
Academic Research · UMass Amherst
The Challenge
A lab at the intersection of critical tech studies and global studies. World-class scholars and a growing event programme. Stuck behind a WordPress install that buried its work and failed its audience of academics, policymakers, and activists.
Our Approach
Audited the site’s information architecture against the lab’s core audiences. Mapped journeys for scholars seeking collaboration, students, and media. Restructured the site into clear pillars: Research, Team, Publications, and Events.
The Solution
A redesigned WordPress site with an editorial visual language that signals intellectual rigour. Events, papers, reports, and team profiles surfaced clearly. Integrated newsletter signup and RSVP system to support community-building.
A research platform that looks the part, and helps the right people find, read, and engage.
